Leader of the day, friend to everyone

Prepare a leader card showing three jobs: welcoming classmates, choosing a song and helping distribute materials.

Prepare a leader card showing three jobs: welcoming classmates, choosing a song and distributing materials. Place it beside a turn list everyone can consult, without linking the role to behavior rewards. Introduce leadership as a way to care for the group and show where the needed objects belong. A paper badge can sit on the table instead of being worn. Anyone who prefers to share the responsibility can invite a willing classmate to help, while the visible list makes future turns predictable.

At arrival, the leader offers two greetings, such as a spoken word or a wave; each person chooses what to receive. To distribute crayons, count the tables that need them and prepare one tray for each. If supplies remain, ask which place still needs checking. For the song, the leader can show two picture choices and gather the group's preferences. The adult keeps responsibility for safety and supports these jobs without asking the leader to supervise classmates or judge anyone's behavior.

Use ayudar / help, turno / turn and juntos / together while holding a tray, waiting by a shelf or putting an instrument away together. Younger children can carry a picture card showing the next step. Older children can prepare a three-picture sequence and check which job remains. For someone less comfortable with a public greeting, offer checking supply boxes or pointing to a song choice. Making a useful contribution does not require speaking in front of the class or taking the most visible job.

Before goodbye, recall one observable action: you brought colors to the table that had none, or waited while someone chose their greeting. Avoid voting for the best leader or counting how much praise each child receives. On the back of the card, draw a useful tip for the next turn, such as preparing trays first. The leader can describe which task felt simple and where a partner helped. This handover passes along practical knowledge and makes caring for the classroom a shared responsibility.
